Chipli powers Chargers to impressive total

Bharat Chipli scored his maiden IPL half century to help the winless Deccan Chargers set the Royal Challengers Bangalore a victory target of 176
Chipli smashed 5 fours and 3 sixes during an innings of 61 which helped the Chargers reach 175-5 as they look to end their 9 game losing streak at the the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Having been put into bat by Royal Challengers skipper Daniel Vettori the Chargers progressed well despite the loss of Shikhar Dhawan (11) at the end of the 3rd over.
Sunny Sohal gave the home side the early advantage with an impressive innings of 38, the 23 year old showed no sign’s of debut nerves as he dispatched 5 fours and a six during his time at the crease.
Despite losing Sohal in the 9th over Kumar Sangakkara and Chipli continued to attack the Royal Challengers bowlers during a 3rd wicket stand of 43 which kept the home side on course for their biggest total of the tournament so far.
The Chargers skipper led the way with a quick fire 36 before he tried to drive a wide delivery from Johan van der Wath, which he edged through to wicket keeper AB de Villiers to leave the home side 113-3.
The lose of Sangakkara didn’t slow the Chargers down thanks to Chipli who dispatched Ryan Ninan for consecutive 6’s in the 15th over as he raced towards his first ever IPL half century.
The 28 year old continued his onslaught in the next over smashing 3 boundaries in a row off the bowling of Zaheer Khan before his new partner JP Duminy quickly raced to 22 from just 15 deliveries before he was dismissed by Khan in the final over.
With four balls remaining Chilpi added 7 valuable runs to help the Chargers reach 175-5 despite Daniel Christian (0) being trapped LBW by Khan from the final delivery of the innings.
